Juan Carlos Mares Elizalde, “Frankie”, is recognized as one of the best drummers in Mexico. His complex and particular sound puts him on a very select list of new talent. At 32 years old, Frankie has produced and played with many artists such as Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO), Steven Bernstein (Sex Mob, Launge Lizards), Jay Rodriguez and Jonathan Maron (Groove Collective), John Medeski, Erik Deutsch, Don Byron, DJ Logic, Alex Machacek, Alonso Arreola, Todd Clouser, Gerry Rosado, Alex Otaola, Fabian Tweety Gonzalez among many others.
Recently, he has been a part of several successful projects including Descartes a Kant, Chick Freak, Los Rabiosos del Norte, Evamalva and Troker, which international projection has brought Frankie specialized press attention.
Troker, celebrating its tenth anniversary, is recognizable not only because of the excellence and virtuosity of its members, but also for combining diverse artistic expressions in their records. In 2014 Troker premiered their fourth album, Crimen Sonoro.
The summer of 2014 also marked their return to Europe becoming the first Mexican band to play the Glastonbury Festival two times in a row. Troker’s second European tour also gave them the opportunity to perform at the Jazz Fest in Wien, Austria, Festival Lent in Slovenia, Estival Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Angers Summer Concert Series in France.
