Pete Holmes grew up in Portland, Oregon. In the 60’s and 70’s immersed in the music of the day…Zeppelin, Cream, The Beatles, Kiss, Rush as well as jazz, fusion and progressive bands…Yes, Billy Cobham, UK, Genesis, ELP...listening to anything that was different and not so main stream. Playing with touring acts in high school, as his peers went to the school dances, he learned how interact with other musicians older then himself and what it was like to be a working drummer. Pete was also voted best musician in his senior class although he never played in the school band.
In the early 80’s Pete did local studio work and played around the Portland area until meeting up with several other local musicians and started up the band Black ‘N Blue. BNB honed their style and moved to Los Angeles in 1982 where they were in the middle of the LA club scene and selling out venues on a weekly basis. Later that same year they signed a record deal with Geffen Records and recorded their self-titled debut album with Scorpions producer Dieter Dereks. This first album went gold and spawned the single “Hold on to 18” which still gets heavy airplay.
The band went on to record four more albums and toured with KISS, AEROSMTIH, GUNS’N ROSES, WHITESNAKE, DIO, HEART and many others until they disbanded in 1989. Since that time Pete has toured and recorded with many artist such as Ian Gillian, Malice, Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth. To date he still does shows with BNB, Schenker and Uli as well as studio work, and is currently putting together a new project that will be out mid-2015, more details to come.
