Russ Garner started playing the drums at the age 10 his love for the instrument was instant. With hard work and practice throughout middle school and high school Russ ended up studying drums at Berklee College of music. Russ Garner honed his drumming skills while at Berklee under the wing of drumming greats Skip Hadden, Kenwood Dennard, and Gary Chaffee. He graduated in 2008, after a short stay at Billboard magazine, Russ decided to move to Auburn, Al. There he continued the pursuit of his dream to put together an original project and play full-time up. After four year there it was time to move to Music City.
Since moving to Nashville in 2013 Russ Garner has become one of Mothertone’s most prolific artists, his smooth style and tasty chops really let our drums sing. Since Graduating Berklee Russ has toured and recorded with Grammy Award Winning Guitarist Larry Mitchell, Ben Sutton, Kenny Heard, The Good Doctor, Southern Fried Funk, and Peter Novelli. After years of hard work Russ’ path lead him to do clinics throughout the southeast and have a featured blog on Modern Drummer’s website. Russ Garner is currently touring with Grant Garland a brilliant guitarist and singer out of Nashville, Wiggins and Haack a dynamic Amercana duo, and The Larry Mitchell band. Between these three artists he’s schedule is consistently packed and we could not be any happier. Cheers Russ!
