JJ Tartaglia is the drummer for Canadian heavy metal band Skull Fist. Hailing originally from Cape Breton, JJ is a professional live/studio drummer now based in Toronto, Canada. He is recognized for his musical, versatile, and aggressive drumming style and is an official endorsee of Pearl Drums, AHEAD Drumsticks, Remo Drumheads, and Sabian Cymbals. JJ is a long-time veteran of the stage and of the road. He has been touring since the age of 15 and has performed in 20+ countries including major outdoor festivals such as Rocklahoma (USA), Heavy TO (CAN), Metalfest (CZ), Rock For People (CZ), Out & Loud (DE), Metal Frenzy (DE), Helsinki Metal Meeting (FIN), Metalheadz Open Air (DE), Rock La Mures (RO), Power Festival (BEL), Zvera Festival (LV), and more. He has established a reputation for his originality, visual technique, ambidexterity, and his signature super-high cymbal setup.
From 2002-2011, JJ was a founding member and drummer for reggae-metal kings Zeroscape, having recorded several EPs and 2 full length albums:"Braille" and "...If This is The End I Will" released on Bad Reputation Records (EU), Boonsdale Records (CAN/USA). The albums propelled the band on a series of monster tours and lead to sharing the stage with Basement Jaxx, The Killers, Accept, Sabaton, Triptykon, Symfonia, Ghost, Bury Your Dead, The Hives, Sick of it All, Walls of Jericho, Five Finger Death Punch, No Means No, In This Moment and many more.
Since 2006, JJ has been the drummer for Final Trigger, having released 2 critically acclaimed recordings "Skrap Metal" and "Skrap Metal Vol. II", sharing the stage with Suicidal Tendencies, Marilyn Manson, Dillinger Escape Plan, Protest The Hero, Hail The Villain, Baptized In Blood, Threat Signal, Slaves On Dope, Agent Orange, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Boondox and extensive touring in the USA as direct support for Mushroomhead.
In 2014, JJ became the official drummer for Skull Fist and has done headlining tours throughout the USA, Mexico, South America, and Europe in support of their album “Chasing The Dream” (NoiseArt Records) which was nominated for a JUNO award for Best Metal/Hard Music Album in 2014.
JJ currently maintains a busy touring schedule and music career with Skull Fist as he continues his musical mission.
