Rick Allen was born in Dronfield, Derbyshire, England and is the drummer for Def Leppard. He got his first drum kit at the age of 10 after convincing his parents to get him one. They agreed with two conditions; he had to take lessons and pay half the cost of the kit. After a few months, he joined his first band, Smokey Blue. After that band, he went on to play in Rampant and the Johnny Kalendar Band.

Rick joined Def Leppard when he was 15 years old and has been playing with them ever since. The band has sold over 65 million records worldwide and is one the most successful rock bands of all time.

When not recording or touring with Def Leppard, Rick is working in support of his Raven Drum Foundation. Founded in 2001 with his wife, Lauren Monroe, the program strives to provide free educational programs in the arts and opportunities for personal growth for those challenged by adversity.
