Growing up in Nashville, TN, RJ was surrounded by incredible musicians and artists from a very young age. Honing his skills in local bands, touring, and studying with drumming legend Chester Thompson (Phil Collins, Genesis, Frank Zappa) made RJ realize that a career was indeed possible. At 22, RJ made the trek across the country to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, RJ attended the PIT program at Hollywood’s famed Musician’s Institute. Since finishing at MI, he has continued to pursue his own musical growth by studying with Jason Sutter (Cher, Foreigner, Marylin Manson) and various other teachers around the Los Angeles area. RJ continues to tour relentlessly and establish himself as one of hard rock/metal’s most exciting up and coming players. RJ currently resides in Los Angeles and is a permanent member of SoCal punk rock pioneers Strung Out and recording/touring member of Unwritten Law along with freelance touring and recording with various artists.
