William Goldsmith is a founding member of Sunny Day Real Estate—still active with the band today. He was the original drummer for Foo Fighters, touring with them for seventeen intense months before stepping away. He’s also a core part of The Fire Theft and currently plays in Assertion. Beyond that, he’s shared stages with legends like Mike Watt and David Bowie.

Goldsmith and Sunny Day Real Estate inspired a generation of bands, helping spark the genre commonly known as emo (emotionally driven music). However, that label has never fully made sense to him, given that human emotion has driven music since the beginning of time.
